The Yoga of Planets Part I: Astrology Made Simple
This blog post started as an infodump in a discord server. I figured I'd post here to make astrology easier to understand for more people!
Firstly, there's 3 things going on. You've got planets-- the stars of the show. They have their own lil personalities & they have jobs. You've got houses, those are the places/ environments the planets work in. They are responsible for certain aspects of your life (identity, children, finances, upbringing, etc.) There are 12 houses. There are also 12 signs, the 3rd & most popular thing, those are like the ✨️vibes✨️.
So a planet will be in a sign & a house doing a job. Depending on the planet, sign, & house, it could potentially function well or function a bit oddly. Take Saturn in Aries for example, a transit coming up which is a hot topic for 2025. Saturn is slow & patient & all about following rules, enforcing boundaries, growing, establishing systems, etc. Saturn rules Capricorn. Aries is all fast, fast, f☆ck rules, fight, fight, fight let's goooooo. So like, Saturn's not able to take their time like they like to.
So a planet will be in a sign & in a house making aspects to another planet in a sign in a house. Aspects are like planets dancing together, or talking to each other. Sometimes the aspects mean they're cooperative, gentle, etc. Sometimes they're so cooperative they basically do the job together (a conjunction.) Other times, they're arguing, not flowing together properly, etc.
The planets in the sky move around at their own individual paces & touch/aspect the places where the planets were at your time of birth. This does ✨️stuff✨️ depending on which planet & sign & house & whatnot.
For instance, when a planet stations retrograde, this could mean different things depending on what points that planet is touching in YOUR chart.
